legal forms softwareIs it legal to fill out bankruptcy forms for people?

Not as an attorney or paralegal, but just as someone who is familiar with the forms and has the necessary software to enter in the information and produce filled-out forms to give to the individual filing the BK, for them to file themselves with the court. I know of people who do this but I don't know whether it is legal, and if it is, what is necessary.
It is legal for a person to fill out the forms as alegal forms software "non-attorney bankruptcy petition preparer" so long as they perform all of the legally mandated disclosures and provide no legal advice at all.

Practically speaking, though, it is almost impossible to help someone else fill out the bankruptcy documents without giving legal advice - any questions about how they are supposed to give information, such as "does X count as income"? "legal forms softwareDo I have to list my X?" "What are these 'exemptions'?" are all legal questions and can ONLY be answered by a lawyer.

As a petition preparer, you pretty much can't be any more than a typist.
i'm sure its legal, as long as you're doing it correctly, and the person you're doing it for is there so you can make sure you're filling it out correctly.
