listen to musicWhy is my computer skipping every time I listen to music or watch stuff?

I got a computer from Freecycle a few weeks ago, it seems to work perfectly except for the fact that it glitches every time I watch anything or listen to music. This happens both online and with my downloads. It's not just the sound, the screen skips about on videos as well. Any ideas people? Thank you!
The processor may not be able to keep up or the Ram is being used at its limit. Close any programs you are not using.
Download the latest drivers fromlisten to music the manufacturers web site.
Do all of the programs shown by icons in the system tray need to be running at startup? If not, open the program and uncheck the box for run at startup.
Go to Start > Run. Enter msconfig . On the Startup tab uncheck any items that do not need to run at startup. If a mistake is made it can be corrected later. On reboot mark the box to indicate the System Config Utility should not run every time the system starts.
Defraglisten to musicment the hard drive.

Thanks for being a Freecycler.
it could be due to driver issues/conflicts or faulty hardware..

try installing dpc latency checker :
also, read the advice given on that page

latencymon might also help you to isolate the exact hardware causing the issue :
if you are using windows media player, then there would be your answer.
turn off all those stupid extras that try and work out what the media is
that you are playing
