So i've had this dell inspiron i1440 laptop since 2009 i believe and i've always had problems with the integrated webcam and i fixed it somehow. But i recently restored my computer and it won't work. Webcam Central runs fine, but the light for the camera doesn't light up or work on Skype. A lot of people are saying to install drivers but i need a website? and steps on how to do it?
Well there are basically two options.
Search far and wide for the drivers on the merchant websites.
Download softwaredell inspiron drivers that will find the right drivers and install them all automatically.
I used to do it on my own until I discovered how easy it was to download drivers with driver update software. My favorite program is available at:
You have to download the drivers from the Dell website.
I have looked there already for your laptop, but I don't find any webcam drivers.
A second method is to download the drivers from the website of the webcam itself.
First you have to go to Device Manager, just tydell inspiron driverspe this in the search box in the start menu and you'll find it.
There you have to expand Imaging Devices and then you'll see the name of your webcam.
Then google that name and add 'drivers' so that it search for the drivers.
Then select a reliable website and download it.
The installation isn't difficult at all.
You'll have to press Next a couple of times and in the end you'll have to reboot your computer and that's it.
